Good news! Sales and Prices Increased in Maine during 2013

The number of existing, single family home sales was up 11.49% statewide in December 2013 (990) compared to December 2012 (888).  The median sales price increased 0.15% to $170,250 in December 2013 compared to December 2012.   For the full 2013 calendar year, sales were up 13.60% statewide (to 13,088 units), with a median sales price increase of 2.94% to $175,000.

SALES AND PRICES UP IN DECEMBER: In a press release to the media, MREIS reports that home sales increased 11.49% comparing December 2013 to December 2012. The median sales price (MSP) was $170,250, a 0.15% increase in that same time period. The MSP indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less. NAR reports home sales nationwide decreased 0.70% comparing December 2013 to December 2012.
